The Scientific Method is an electronic music experiment gone pleasantly awry. While most musicians choose to stick to the same timeworn genres that are popularly accepted, Jim Hughes of The Scientific Method refuses to be shoved in a box and sold. He is continuously breaking all the known barriers of music and passionately exploring new sonic terrains. His artful fusing of almost all genres is only surpassed by his zest for experimenting with new technology. Jim’s obsession with electronic music began at the young age of four, when his parents bought him a small one octave synthesizer for Christmas. From there his fascination grew exponentially. . He started taking piano lessons at the age of ten and joined the middle school band playing the clarinet. He then switched to the bass clarinet in the eight grade. He was invited to and joined the Southeastern United States Honor Band also in the eight grade on the Bass Clarinet. Once he entered high school, he joined the marching band drum-line, percussion ensemble, jazz band, symphonic band, and concert band. He played drum-set for the jazz band and during his sophomore year, attended the Clayton State Jazz Clinic. While in the marching band he played the bass drum, snare drum, tenors, and all pit instruments. In 1998, between his junior and senior year, he marched on the drum-line with the Spirit of Atlanta drum and bugle corps who placed 14th at the DCI World Championships. He played drum-set for the jazz band and during his sophomore year, attended the Clayton State Jazz Clinic. After high school he moved to Columbus Georgia to attend Columbus State University, majoring in percussion performance with a focus on drum-set. He performed with the Columbus St. Orchestra and in the orchestra pit ensemble for their theatre dept. Jim has also played the guitar for twelve years, though he has had no formal training. The Scientific Method’s first album “Digital Nonsensical” is an attestation of his broad musical training and love of all things that make a racket. His newest project is so progressive in concept that he has yet to reveal it for fear of other producers lifting his idea. Even the most discerning of music enthusiasts will have something new to find in the wide-ranging soundscapes of The Scientific Method.

...try "Take Me Back" by Frozen Shelter than. The only condition is to listen to it with your eyes closed, or in a dark room and without any forwarding. Just carry this experiment out, and share your opinion after that! Thanx (:

Gotta tell you, listening to the first track I thought to myself, Trent Reznor clone. I stand corrected. Deeper down in the playlist you have come up with some very fresh sound ideas. I particularly like 'psychologica', and the jazzy 'City Lights'. Great work!

I Love your drum work and piano moods, but I'm an ambient drum an bass kinda guy. The vocals were good, but not till i'll pass did they really stand out for me. Over all great work! And thanks for the free dls. check out my song recognition, might be to your taste. pz an love -Gabe

Hi Jim!
Great to hear from you. Listening to your music right now. Your parents told me you were doing some recording and stuff but had never heard your music until now. Man, I love this kind of stuff...could listen to it all day long. I'm truly blown away with whole vibe and the production. You've suddenly become one of my favorite artists on FUZZ. Is this self-produced? I've got a couple of soundtrack-like pieces I'd love to work with you on if you'd be interested? Give me call. I'll be back later to write a review.
